Handmade by small cottage industry artisans in Nepal, these throws are hand screen printed onto soft, 100% organic cotton which is grown and harvested locally, where layer after layer of colour is applied with a handmade wooden board and overlaying 'stencils' until the amazing designs are completed.

Your purchase supports the people of Nepal because many of the artisans who make these throws are women's skills groups, empowering mothers, sisters and wives in villages and cities across Nepal. And by using cotton fibres grown and harvested locally you’re aiding the farmers and their communities in rural areas. Your purchase also supports The Asha Foundation which provides food, housing, health care and education for disadvantaged children as well as 3 Angels Nepal who are dedicated to stopping human trafficking from Nepal. Nepal has the highest rates in the world for human trafficking and 20,000 girls and women are taken over the border each year.

Unlike cheap imitations which are mass produced by a machine, these throws are 100% handmade and no two are exactly alike. Each one features unique characteristics that give it it’s own personality and tell the story of it’s origins. These characteristic “flaws” -- such as slight running of dye, teeny-tiny spots and markings, or slight print imperfections -- make yours different from the others and are part of their charm and uniqueness; their character and personality. We have painstakingly gone through each one to make sure we're only selling the highest quality throws.

USES: The word Mandala means "circle".  A Mandala represents wholeness, a cosmic diagram reminding us of our relation to the universe. Mandalas are often used in spiritual practices such as meditation.The throw can be used as a bed cover (please note, this is not a quilt/doona cover), wall hanging, table cover, lightweight picnic blanket or beach throw. It also looks divine folded and thrown over a simple couch.

CARE: Your throw is delicate and should be handled as such. Always hand wash gently in cold water. Hand wash in cold water before use. Do not soak. Dry and store in the shade - the soft dyes will fade if stored in the sun.
